Contribution Rules:​

• A Contributor: 

  • must be an Ontario resident;

  • must provide their name and Ontario address to the candidate for audit purposes;

  • giving $100 or less will not be publicly listed on candidate filings;

  • can give to more than one campaign; and

  • will not receive a tax receipt for contributions to municipal campaigns.

• Limitations

  • There is a $1,200 limit for contributions from one contributor to a candidate.

  • There is a $5,000 limit for all contributions from one contributor to all candidates in the same jurisdiction.

  • Contributions cannot be accepted from corporations, trade unions, federal/provincial political parties/constituency associations, or a registered candidate in a federal/provincial election.

  • Associations and ratepayers groups cannot contribute but individual members of these groups can make a personal contribution.

  • A cash contribution cannot exceed $25.
